Women's Hidden Homelessness
Women’s homelessness is hidden and intermittent, most women walk the streets all night, scared of bedding down in an unsafe area or fear of being attacked. Women move around all the time trying to find safe places. They are often not found by outreach workers.
- Women are underrepresented in rough sleeping data due to hidden homelessness
- Women may stay in squats, hostels, sofa surf with friends, family or with strangers. This makes it harder to gather data on the number of women rough sleeping.
We offer safe spaces for women to access our services. We listen to women’s voices, engage and provide key support women need. Taking an intersectional approach Transition Homeless Project address the structural disadvantages for women such as race, age, disability intersecting the needs a women may have.
